What is a credit union?

A Credit Union is a community bank where individuals have a common bond; the common bond can be living in the same area or working in the same area.


North Coatbridge has a living and working common bond our common bond covers Coatbridge Airdrie and surrounding villages.

Members save with North Coatbridge and can borrow on there savings, when a member borrows from the credit union the interest accrued from these loans is paid back into YOUR CREDIT UNION, when all the over heads have been paid for the running of the credit union any surplus left over may be paid as a dividend to the credit unions members, there for it is the peoples money working for the people.

Over the past 3 years 2006/2009 North Coatbridge Credit Union has declared a 2% dividend each year to its members. Dividends are usual declared after the Credit Unions A.G.M which is normally in the month of March.
